This temple offers a different perspective to the role that Buddhist monks played in the history of Korea while at the same time offering some stunning views of the surrounding mountainsides. In 1954, it was renamed Jogyesa Temple as part of a national effort to revive traditional Korean Buddhism. A temple stay program is a very unique experience and a must try. We might all use a little of that.
